Aboriginal Soldiers Honoured With New Mosaic Artwork

By Charles Pakana – 28 June 2018

At St Pius X Primary School in Heidelberg West, a unique five metre artwork is being created by artist Simon Normand and students, including descendants of several of this country’s most revered Aboriginal soldiers.

The artwork, which commemorates the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers who have fought in Australia’s wars since the late 1890s is due to be unveiled at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital on 9 November 2018.

Connection MattersĀ host Charles Pakana was invited to visit the school and talk to the artist and students.
