There can be little doubt that the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Australia’s prisons is well beyond a crisis point.
While the media shouts “foul” about the recent news that 100% of incarcerated youth in the Northern Territory are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, NATSIL – the peak body for First Nations legal services in Australia – presented State, Territory and Federal Governments with a plan in September last year.
